Today I hopped on a tour bus managed by Timberbush Tours which visited the West Highland Lochs, Mountains & Castles.

Today’s fast food is brought to you by Harry Ramsden’s Famous Fish and Chips. The fish is gigantic, the drink is miniscule, and it’s all tipped with cheese. Sorry I couldn’t find McHaggis…

It’s all pretty good, average fish and chips, but the cheese makes it a little soggy, I think. 5/10 might try again.

Didn’t do a whole lot today, I’m afraid.  Went and got a shave and a haircut, walked around the Princes St. gardens, visited a couple pubs, and went to see the latest Simon Pegg/Nicholas Frost/Edgar Wright movie “The World’s End” with my flatmates.  But figured I’d at least post the photos I took, including a statue of Mr. Sherlock Holmes.

Yesterday (got in too late to write this up), I went to the National Museum of Scotland, the Scotch Whiskey Experience, and Edinburgh Castle.  Found a couple of other things along the way.

So I’ve realized that I’m a few days behind here…  I visited the modern art museum, the Norse museum, the museum of art and design…

Who wants one? I’m currently sending about 6/week to people that it occurs to me to send or I have addresses for.

If you’d like to receive at least one postcard from me in the next 6 weeks that I’ll be out, comment here or email me with your address at If you think I have your address, you’re probably right, but I have the one from one or two moves ago. I suck at updating my address book.

I thought today instead of regular fast food, I’d hit up a pizza joint. I ordered a slice of margherita pizza, and got what’s pictured. It’s greasy, cheesy, no sign of tomatoes or basil, and tasty nonetheless.

I was craving something crappy (probably due to my American diet) and this fulfilled that need.

I know a lot of these posts seem to be “and then I wandered”, but really, that’s kinda my M.O. for how I’m handling this trip.  I pick a place, pick a direction, and see what I can find that looks interesting.  If I don’t find anything, then I go somewhere else and try again, or I consult my pants computer to see if IT knows of anything interesting nearby.

I am so smart.  S-M-R-T.  I have had a couple of technical difficulties here in Sweden, but have been smarter than the tech so far.

1) Cellular SIM card is too large for my phones!  Oh noes!  The card sold to me by the 7-11 was designed only for older phones that take the full-size SIM.  I have with me, my Galaxy S4 which takes a micro SIM, and my iPhone 5 which takes a nano SIM.  Standard is larger than micro which is larger than nano.  RIGHT.  So through creative use of SCISSORS, I managed to trim the excess plastic off of the standard size SIM to make it fit in the micro size slot on my Galaxy S4, and it WORKED!

2) Wi-fi at the place I’m staying only BARELY makes it into 1/4 of the space I’m occupying, and not at all into the space I’m using the most.  (Wi-fi in the bathroom, not so useful.)  HOWEVER!  When I was in Tokyo, I picked up a “pocket router” on a whim.  It’s about the size of a deck of playing cards, but half the thickness.  It works as a wireless router, or an access point, or a client.  I bought it because it was cute, and you never know when it might be useful… Turns out that today was its day!  So now I have useful wireless in my place here in Sweden.  So I can write this post.

I’m a little sad to be leaving Copenhagen behind me.  It’s an amazing city.  I would love to spend more time there, but it is time to move along.
