I’m a little sad to be leaving Copenhagen behind me.  It’s an amazing city.  I would love to spend more time there, but it is time to move along.

Normally I put the “where I went today” in the title of a post, but I was kinda all over the place today.  I took the Hop-on/Hop-off bus tour from Central Station around the city, then a canal boat tour, then wandered my way into a jazz festival (3 different stages), and over to Nyhavn.

Yesterday I left Delhi and am now settled in in Copenhagen, Denmark.  I could not be happier with my decision to come here.  The weather is perfect, the people are very polite and helpful, and everyone I’ve encountered spoke at least some English.

Today, right now in fact, I’m riding the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Nagoya. I’m on the fastest of the available Shinkansen options, the N700, with a top speed of 190 MPH and it sure as hell feels like it. It feels odd moving this fast on land, my ears keep popping as though I were going through rapid elevation change, but the travel is mostly flat.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a window seat, but I’ll hopefully have one for the way back so I can take pictures.

It turns out that it is not cheap to travel via Shinkansen.  The pricing is on par with taking an airplane, but much more convenient in that there’s none of that take off, landing and boarding process to go through.  You just walk in the door of the right car and find a seat.

Will update again later, hopefully with pictures of Nagoya and of the trip back from Nagoya to Tokyo.

Today I visited the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka and then took the train to Shibuya to wander about a bit.
